Terry Anderson of Saskatchewan says Terry Anderson of Yorkton who volunteered in Nepal with Canadian Cross Roads International was never jailed in Sri Lanka. Anderson left for Sri Lanka in December to work on self help projects but visa issues delayed his return. An External Affairs official confirmed his status though no police records show detention.
Federal and provincial finance ministers agreed Canadians must pay significantly more in Canada Pension Plan premiums. Michael Wilson said three increase options will be studied with a decision likely this year. Premiums could rise between 1995 and 2010 and are driven by an aging population and a looming CPP deficit.
