Man Guilty of Algary Death of 10 Year Old Daughter
Jeb Cayenne a Brooks district trapper was sentenced to 18 months in prison for the death of his ten year old daughter Mabel Alice. His sons Joseph aged 13 and Frank aged 11 testified that the father struck her with a heavy stick in anger. The Crown said the blow fractured her skull. The judge, Mr Justice I F Ewing, heard the evidence after Cayenne admitted throwing the stick but denied it caused death. Frank, though too young to testify, recounted his brother's account and said he believed the Bible is the same as any other book.

Victoria, Jan. 15. The death of Mrs Tolmie, wife of Hon. J. F. Tolmie premier of British Columbia, occurred Saturday after noon. She had been ill months but recently improved. She joined the family at luncheon and was preparing for a drive when she suffered a stroke and died. Her daughter and son-in-law Major and Mrs Leonard Andrews and other relatives were present. Four children and two grandchildren survive.
