Kitten Awakens Household During Jasper Fire
Miss McTague of Vancouver awoke choking in a smoke filled Jasper apartment and woke Mr and Mrs Sutherland. Fire blocked stairs so she forced a window and raised the alarm. All three were rescued by ladders. Miss McTague suffered severe cuts from glass.

Earthquake devastates India with heavy casualties
A protracted earthquake in All India today killed at least twenty one people and injured many. In Calcutta the wife and children of G W Brown the British manager of the railway workshop and the wife of the India district medical officer were among the dead in the damalpur railway station collapse. Office workers fled to the streets as tremors damaged buildings and a Cawnpore report said 300 houses collapsed and 7000 were cracked during five minutes of shaking.
