Former German POW Deported From Canada to Germany

Adolf Kratz 33, last German prisoner of war held in Canada, released after nearly 18 years at Saskatchewan Penitentiary and deported to Cologne. He had been imprisoned for a 1943 prison camp murder in North Africa, an uprising at a camp near Medicine Hat, Alberta. Spokesman cited family pleas including Kratz's 74 year old mother.

Saskatchewan Health Chief Probes North Saskatchewan Pollution

Regina reports Saskatchewan director of sanitation J. G. Schaeffer has traveled to Edmonton to join Alberta officials in probing a recurrence of North Saskatchewan River pollution blamed on an Edmonton plant. Orphan Girls End 10000 Mile Trip

Two shy brown eyed sisters Elizabeth 14 and Barbara 13 stepped from a train into the arms of their grandfather Anton Pape Sr three miles south of Humboldt Saskatchewan ending a 10000 mile journey from a Yugo slav orphanage. The Red Cross arranged the trip and Winnipeg provided winter clothing as the girls learned to speak Croat and reunite with family.
