Bus collision near Irvine leaves one dead and three children injured
A head on crash 10 kilometres east of Irvine on the Trans-Canada Highway killed 19 year old Bruce Torgunrud the truck driver. Three of the 30 school bus passengers were treated at Medicine Hat and District Hospital and released the same evening. The injured children ages were 12 12 and six. Names were not released. Paramedic units attended the scene at Irvine Texaco and Irvine Petro-Canada.

Truck and bus collision near Irvine sends children to gas stations
Torgunrud's westbound truck collided with a Walsh bound school bus driven by Gordon Wunsch of Irvine at 3 40 p m. Garry Lentz owner of the bus said Tuesday Roy Clark of Calgary a passing motorist helped transport Irvine School children to gas stations in his 12 seater van. Clark's brother stayed at the scene to help Mounties direct traffic. Police investigate with a snowplow blowing snow nearby possibly contributing to the crash. The smaller van carried 10 children and the bus followed it. the bus sustained a crumpled left fender and bumper.
