Snow train wreck near Brandon kills and injures many
A snow clearing train collided with a heavily loaded stock train east of Brandon Manitoba shortly after 10 am. About 10 people died and 40 were injured, mostly foreign workers. The wreck left the main track blocked and rescue efforts hampered by 46 below zero. By 1 30 pm fourteen dead were reported and identification remained scarce. George McChie is named as a foreman among the workers.
