Train wreck cleanup delayed near Austin Manitoba

A western Manitoba derailment left 35 of 71 CNR cars off the tracks near Austin. Cleanup was halted by heat from the wreck and resumed at daylight after wind and temperature changes. No injuries. cause blamed on a broken rail. Propane and caustic soda were on several cars. evacuations occurred for nearby residents.

Voucher plan worries Horsman

Alberta manpower minister Jim Horsman warns the federal voucher proposal for job training could infringe on provincial education control and disrupt provincially run programs as Ottawa and provincial ministers prepare for a conference.
