On January 10 notable items include the 1942 execution of William Laud as treason, the 2003 Quebec Bar admitting its first women lawyers, and 2004 police seizing Canada’s largest indoor marijuana operation at a closed Molson brewery in Barrie. Ronnie Hawkins, Canadian rock pioneer, was born in 1935 in Huntsville Arkansas. Hawkins has been a father.
Canadian rock icon Rompin Ronnie Hawkins helped launch dozens of careers including Crowbar The Band Dominic Troiano and David Clayton-Thomas. He began touring Ontario clubs in 1958 with the Hawks and scored hits Mary Lou and 40 Days in 1959 before largely staying in Canada. He left Ontario briefly for The Band farewell in 1976 and later battled pancreatic cancer, announcing cancer freedom in April 2003.
