Employment Bureau Reports 2005 Men Placed in Work

The government employment bureau reports 2005 men found jobs in the past year with 47 transferred from other districts including Regina Moose Jaw Vancouver Kamloops Winnipeg and Lethbridge. Agriculture led with 779 positions followed by railroad construction 412 mining 124 and building 105. Women’s department placed 215 of 246 applications with transfers to Moose Jaw Vancouver and Winnipeg. United Farmers of Manitoba Report Gains in Membership

Open Conference on Immigration in Ottawa

Provincial representatives met Hon. Charles Stewart in Ottawa to craft a cooperative scheme for placing immigrants this season. British Columbia Saskatchewan and Prince Edward Island did not attend, but each indicated cooperation with the federal plan. No Strike Planned in UMW District 18 This Summer

Edmonton reports William Sherman district president says there will be no strike in District No 18 of the United Mine Workers this summer after a conference with International President Lewis. The UMWA International Committee met coal operators in Chicago to extend the current agreement for another year per guidance from Hayes of the U S Fact Finding Commission on coal industry conditions.
