Ottawa CP report says 1,500 major federal air regulation violations occurred last year, with only 25 percent investigated due to inspector shortages. Union cites fatigued pilots, improper licenses, overweight aircraft, and aircraft without airworthiness certificates.
Overnight riots set fire to eight theatres and numerous shops in Tabriz as Iran plunged into a day of mourning. Troops aided fire crews amid protests across Tehran and other cities, with deaths and injuries reported during a two day mourning period. Countrywide demonstrations persisted as crowds shouted Down with the shah and the shah must go.
