The line could connect Crow's Nest branch and the B C Southern to Fort Steele then reach Golden about 160 miles further. A second survey led by T. T. McVittie P. L. S. will trace a line from Jaffray north to Fort Steele then to Sheep Creek and possibly Windermere, weather permitting.
Toronto voters elected Urquhart, a Liberal, to the mayoralty in a surprising result. Howland and Lah, both Conservatives with differing newspaper support, trailed as the vote totaled 8,634 for Urquhart and smaller tallies for opponents.
A Wednesday School Board meeting elected T. J. Fleager as chairman and F. F. Fatt as secretary. Minutes of the prior meeting were read and adopted. Accounts from Marshall & Hunter and others were listed. A resignation was accepted and the secretary ordered to advertise for a replacement. Morrison Reeves and Thompson were re-employed at set salaries.
Meeting notes empower chairman and secretary to allocate up to 7000 dollars to meet current expenses. The board favors continuing the meeting until the 76th and will review school buildings in the meantime and report findings.
