City Good return rate on police survey

Medicine Hat Police Service reports an excellent return rate for the October November 2005 policing survey. Surveys went to every third household. one in three were completed and sent to the consultant tabulating results. Inspector Andy McGrogan praised citizen input and the partnership with Medicine Hat College volunteers. results will be announced in early February.

Brooks Holiday Weekend Police Busy with Arrests and Impaired Driving

RCMP report a busy New Year weekend in Brooks with two men charged for possession of a weapon after domestic disturbance complaints. Four impaired driving charges were laid at holiday checkstops and an investigation followed a single vehicle crash south of Scandia, Alia. Two vehicles were reported stolen and several intoxicated individuals were detained for disturbances.

Saskatchewan man sentenced to 15 years for violent sexual assaults

Saskatchewan man Kelly Roger Furi, 30, pleaded guilty to violent sexual assaults on three women and was sentenced to 15 years in prison. He was deemed a long term offender by Court of Queen's Bench Justice John Klebuc in Saskatoon, meaning supervision for 10 years after release. The attacks began in summer 2000 and ended three years later.
