Killer Fisher Arrested Near Edmonton After Unsolved Mysteries Tip

Alberta plans third Pocklington action

Alberta will launch a third lawsuit against former Gainers owner Peter Pocklington for a multi million figure. Treasurer Dick Johnston said the action targets inter company transactions between Gainers and Pocklington firms. The suit follows prior actions over a 67 million aid package and a transfer of a Gainers subsidiary to Pocklington Holdings.

St John s fish processor to close three Newfoundland plants

Fishery Products International announced the closure of Grand Bank Gaultois and Trepassey plants by 1991. The move will cut 1 300 jobs and tie up 13 trawlers as subsidies from government extend operations to 1991, costing about 12 million Canadian dollars. The firm cites financial strain and reduced cod quotas as key pressures on its 17 plants.
