Fire crews fought a long burning oil well near LeDuc Alberta for weeks. A second nitro gelatin blast aimed to seal the geyser choked flames but success was not confirmed. Evacuations were ordered as the well vented about 1000 barrels of crude daily and 1 000 000 cubic feet of gas with flames reaching 200 feet high.
Ottawa reports that Ontario judges may be asked to serve on labor conciliation boards but concerns arise they would increase court workloads for colleagues. Justice Minister Swart Garson and Dana Porter study the issue with federal labor deputy A H Brown present as talks continue.
London AP report says Fanny En ds, 69, sued John Purser, 73, for breach of promise claiming she had awaited marriage since 1908. The case outlines her long wait and the defendant's alleged failure to marry.

From early crimes in Winnipeg slums to prison, George and John Mallock rose to power in the western Canada narcotics network. They used a street ring led by Carter to control dealers, expanded toward Seattle, faced RCMP action, and after capture in New York were jailed in Vancouver. In Saskatchewan near Buffalo Narrows eight people are killed when a government airways two motor Anson crashes during a landing attempt. Among the dead are five Indian school children and pilot Stewart Miller of Prince Albert. a government trading post operator is also aboard. The flight, routed through northern Saskatchewan to pick up students returning after vacation, origin undetermined. Further details were not immediately available.
The wife of Nevada senator George W. Malone walked out of the Women’s National Press Club dinner after Oregon senator Richard L. Neuberger accused Republican tactics of character assassination. Neuberger had been sworn in that day and shared the platform with Vice President Nixon and Senator Clifford Case as the dinner proceeded amid tensions with Mrs. Malone and PMesta outside.
