London January 6 The Duke of York fifth and last of Britain's 35000 ton King George V class battleships was disclosed today to have been launched last February seven months ahead of schedule.
Greek advances were reported despite Italian counter-attacks along the coast. Italian resistance remained sharp and the fighting was more severe due to improving weather as forces strive to secure a new defence line to guard Valona in southwestern Albania, a vital port for retreat or reinforcement.
SAN DIEGO Calif January 6 AP Eleven United States navy fliers died the flaming wreckage of a two motor transport plane after a crash 35 miles southeast of San Diego. The aircraft carried four fliers who parachuted to safety from a patrol bomber near La Mesa Texas and four other navy fliers plus a board three members. The crash occurred in rain on Mother Grundy peak as searchers cleared brush in the rugged area. Naval authorities issued few details pending investigation.
Fort Erie Ontario reports no fatal automobile accident on its streets for seven consecutive years, marking a notable safety milestone for the town.
