Striker Clash at Penn Mine Endangers Wives and Officers

A mob of sixty striking miners and forty women attacked the Penn mine premises at Fort Saskatchewan on Thursday afternoon. Police used batons as miners fought with clubs, coal and rocks flew, several RCMP patrolmen and constables were injured. Nine arrested, women released on bail. court appearance scheduled. A rumor claimed a woman died after alleged trampling by mounted police, but no confirmation of death.

Rosewood Tragedy: White mob besieges barricaded huts

At Rosewood Florida a white mob attacked a heavily armed barricade of negro residents in a hut. Two white men were killed and several whites wounded as gunfire and fire destroyed most of the village. Bodies found included two negro women and a man. many others were reported dead or wounded.
