The War Office reports a bridgehead at Bralla was pierced by Teutonic troops. Four Ru Danian towns fell into enemy hands and about 1400 prisoners were captured as German forces advance.
London reports Allied plans to meet Germany’s war talk with a bold counter stroke to Haig’s Somme drive. Britain and France back Haig to the limit as air power, manpower, and equipment are pledged, with air supremacy and rapid mobilization highlighted. Verdun fighting continues with allied bombardment and German resistance noted.
Ottawa reports Sir Charles Davidson exonerates officials in two inquiries. The submarines report finds no wrongdoing and clears Sir Charles on related arms sales to the British Admiralty. He says ammunition pricing at 20 dollars per thousand was not undervalued and finds no personal gain for Allison or Hughes.
