James sentenced to 3 1/2 years for abusing two players

Calgary coach Gra ham James, 43, pleaded guilty to sexually mistreating two teenage players about 350 times from 1984 to 1995. He could seek day parole in eight months and full parole in 14, with probation details unchanged. A Calgary mother called the sentence too light while James' lawyer said it was fair to society. James also coached the Swift Current Broncos to the Memorial Cup in 1989.

New Ottawa chief aims to add poverty protections to rights law
