Four youths died when their car was crushed by a CNR freight train at a level crossing east of Blackfalds Alberta. In the Hat Police commission and finance committee disagreed on when construction should start on a new police station. Carrie Lyn Jans, daughter of Mr and Mrs Lloyd Jans, 147 Upland Drive, won First Baby title. Miss First Baby was born at 3 46 a.m. on January 1.
