Remand Centre death prompts Strep A protocols at Medicine Hat
An unnamed 47 year old inmate died at the Medicine Hat Remand Centre after being found unresponsive on January 14. Officials say she had group A streptococcus infection and that outbreak precautions were issued for paramedics and staff. A second inmate was moved to Calgary for care as Alberta Health Services advised precautions.
