Lea Varghese of Medicine Hat Christian School finished as runner-up at the Lethbridge Herald Postmedia Campel Regional Spelling Bee held Saturday in Lethbridge. Willow Hordes-Goyer of St Michael's School took third and Crescent Heights Leah Gilmore finished fourth.

The Lethbridge Herald Postmedia CanSpell Regional Spelling Bee on Feb 12 in Lethbridge saw three of the top five finishers from Medicine Hat. 37 competitors from southern Alberta took part, with eight Medicine Hat students all placing first at their schools. Winner Amy Janzen of Coaldale spelled abhorrence to win.
