About 50 public officials and residents gathered at Medicine Hat to discuss Alberta’s 50 year transportation plan. Hatters urged more rail access and safety, while officials pressed for timelines and regional needs as five city councillors and three senior staff observed.
Alberta Health backs RPAP with 10 million dollars yearly to attract physicians to rural areas. In January there were 399 physician vacancies, 157 rural. RPAP uses targeted recruitment via international fairs and school outreach, offering bursaries up to 5000 yearly for medical students and 13000 to 16000 for rural tracks with a three year return in service.
Alberta Premier Alison Redford says it was unacceptable that taxpayers funded about 45000 for her trip to Nelson Mandela's funeral. She traveled with Prime Minister Stephen Harper on a government plane to South Africa and returned early on a commercial flight.
