Stockhoaks marks sixth year in business with thanks to patrons. They announce a slaughter sale offering corsets at 66 6¢, 90, 60c, 45c to attract future patronage.
A broken rail on the Crow’s Nest Railway caused seven injuries as seven passengers were jolted when the engine and baggage car passed the break. The worst injuries were a Vancouver man with a broken collar bone and a Nelson man with a severed wrist. A wrecking crew rushed to clear debris while multiple cars were badly wrecked and steam heated the train to prevent fire.
The Medicine Hat Fire Department hosted its first annual ball at the Opera House drawing about sixty couples. Music by Reid's orchestra kept dancing from 9:30 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. with a full program and a well attended luncheon buffet. Notable guests included numerous local residents and officials, all commending the Fire Brigade for a pleasant evening.
In Medicine Hat a Supreme Court sitting was held with Judge Scott presiding. Dockets show two criminal cases King v Garey and Abbott v Bowen. Bowen case dismissed for lack of evidence. another charge of breaking jail led to a six month sentence.
Hockey at the rink saw C. P. R. staff and Assiniboia Hotel players clash in a fast game on Thursday evening with Dawson Wallen and Pingle shining as goalkeepers. Assiniboia led early with Shorty and Saba scoring, while a later match between Co. P. R. club and the Juniors ended 4–4 with a replay set for next Thursday.
Public School Board met in the Secretary's office on the 3rd. Present were trustees Cousins Nicolls Waldock Porter and Collins with the Secretary Treasurer. They approved payments to Medicine Hat Trading Co Medicine Hat News Williamson Rae W B Marshall H C Cooper E Draudson R Watson and accepted the Secretary Treasurer's bond. They acknowledged a $1242.76 grant from the Department of Education. Resignation of Miss V Simpson was accepted to take a Moose Jaw post. Committee named to hire a new teacher and tenders from C S Pingle for stationery were accepted. A complaint from Messia Rae and A Eddy was reviewed by a Committee of the Whole. The closing line refers to a stray, unrelated note about the McKanlass and the Alabama Warblers as a misprint.
