Mayor Ted Grimm says Medicine Hat enjoyed a strong year 1976 with national austerity offset by local growth. He notes city finances are likely the best ever and that planned programs will reach full year in 1977 with good prospects ahead.

A 55-year-old live-in nurse Kay Cray guided 56-year-old Joann Del Mar onto a two foot wide ledge on the 10th floor of a burning Santa Monica apartment. Firefighters called the escape heroic as they rescued them after the flames subsided.
