Suffield's New School Dedicated Amid 200 Attendances

The Medicine Hat School Division No 4 dedicated a $40 000 two storey frame building serving 38 local students. The event Friday night Jan 29 drew upwards of 200 attendees from Medicine Hat and Ralston. The open house showcased two large second-floor classrooms and a full basement.

Ingathering drive supports world mission work appeal

The Seventh day Adventist church launched its Ingathering Appeal led by Pastor Harold Reimche to fund global missions. Last year North America raised over 3.5 million dollars for humanitarian projects with zero administrative deductions, and Medicine Hat district contributed over 2,500 locally. Nationwide giving exceeded 52 million dollars for missions, medical and education across 194 countries, with 165 hospitals and 4,594 schools cited.

Berries Farmers Shipping Wheat Despite Cold Weather

Farmers in districts three and four hauled wheat last week under a two bushel quota system. Each farmer could haul 300 bushels, with several grain cars loaded recently. Bill Heikkila loaded barley and will ship when a car is available. aerial photos show forest wood content.

Chinook Rocket Cora Honored in All Canadian Judging

Chinook Rocket Cora, a two year old purebred Holstein from Medicine Hat, owned by Arthur Millington, earned honorable mention in the All Canadian Judging Competition for Class A fairs. Her dam Dora Colanthe set Canadian milking records and the prizewinning lineage includes Rockwood Lad Rocket Sovereign. Millington has long been a prizewinner at southern prairie agricultural shows.

Closing Xmas Seal Drive Sets Alberta Goal

February 15 marks the closing date for the 1953 54 Christmas seal sale in Alberta. D W Robertson reports provincial receipts at 193 000 dollars, 20 000 short of the 213 000 goal to fund 1954 55 programs including mobile X ray units, tuberculin testing and welfare services. Medicine Hat district totals 9 530 dollars, 970 short of 10 500, with many former donors not yet heard from. City horse licences last year were 43, down from 115 in 1952, blamed on increased mechanization among dairies.
