A Winnipeg CP report says a student hired to answer GST questions fielded calls from wealthy investors seeking advice. The unnamed student said she was given the legislation and notes a week earlier and left Ottawa after two weeks for a higher paying job.
Nancy Cruzan, 33, who sparked the right to die debate after a 1983 car crash, died at Missouri Rehabilitation Centre in Mount Vernon twelve days after her feeding tube was removed. Her father spoke of a legacy and gratitude from more than 200 mourners. The family had fought to end life support, saying she would have chosen to die rather than remain vegetative. Separately, hijackers seized 82 passengers aboard an Air Algérie Boeing 737 shown grounded at Annaba after landing Friday night. The airline gave few details on hijackers, demands, or crew.
An Angus Reid-Southam News survey shows Reform Party led by Preston Manning and Bloc Quebecois led by Lucien Bouchard gain support when voters are reminded of their existence. Nationally prompted support reaches 12 percent for both parties, with regional boosts in Quebec and the western provinces.
