First COVID-19 vaccine given in Medicine Hat by AHS
Alberta Health Services reports the first local COVID-19 vaccination occurred at noon in Medicine Hat. Dr. Byron Hirsch, 63, a family physician, was the first recipient. AHS did not allow media attendance and did not provide interview access. doses allocated across multiple centres with Calgary and Edmonton receiving the largest allotments.

NORAD’s Santa Tracking Tradition Reaches 65 Years
NORAD continues its year round defense mission and on Christmas Eve tracks Santa using the North Warning System, satellites and CF-18 fighter jets. The program began after a 1955 misdial led to the Santa tracking tradition, and has since guided millions of children worldwide.
