Head on Train Crash Kills Eighteen In Rockmart
Rockmart Ga Dec 24 Thirty to many deaths are reported after a head on collision between the Ponce De Leon bound from Miami to Chicago and the Royal Palm southbound at Rockmart. The wreck occured in heavy rain at about 60 miles an hour with many passengers trapped in dining cars and baggage cars. Rescue workers used blow torches to free bodies as darkness and rain hampered efforts. The dead include several women and children and a Detroit man, with at least twenty nine injured.
