A big flow of wet gas was struck at 2845 feet in the Roth No. 1 well at noon today. Initial flow reached 10,000,000 cubic feet per day, then halved. engineers plan to set 6 5/8 inch casing and under-ream to the gas sand level to determine exact composition. The drill is in the Dakota formation after entry through green sand at 2690 feet.
The Dominion Government chosen Victoria for a Pacific dry dock to host the largest ships. Begun in 1921, the Esquimalt facility costs about six million dollars and measures 1,150 feet long, 1419 feet wide at top, 126 feet at bottom, with 49 feet 4 inches depth and 10 feet of water on sills at high water. It will hold ships or be split into two sections, with extensive concrete and granite construction and four caisson berths. Finished target is 1926, second largest globally after the Commonwealth in Massachusetts.
