Drought impact areas in Medicine Hat district get extra payments under Alberta's Livestock Drought Assistance Program. Eligible bred cows or heifers receive 18 dollars beyond the initial 30 dollar payment. Automatic cheques go to those who qualified. payments arrive mid to late January.

A 14 year old boy from Hinton Alberta secretly boarded a Wardair Boeing 747 in Edmonton and hid in the aircraft baggage hold en route to London England to reach his vacationing girlfriend. He was discovered at Gatwick Airport and flown back to Alberta. RCMP consider charges under the Young Offenders Act for fraud trespass and unlawful access. Investigators plan to decide next month.
