Fritz Haarmann, Hanover butcher, was sentenced to death for murdering twenty four young men over six years. His accomplice Hans Crans received death for incitement. The trial revealed horrifying details of cannibalistic crimes, with bones found in the Rhine and witnesses describing the grisly acts.
Clarence Murray pleaded guilty in a Medicine Hat police court to liquor acts involving a minor and possessing liquor in an unsealed package. He received a 30 day sentence for giving liquor to a 14 year old and a $20 fine plus costs or 30 days in Lethbridge. sentences run concurrently. A fourteen year old visited Murray's South Railway Street home, drank bone brew from malt extract and raisin juice, and was found dazed after leaving the depot. The case followed police inquiry and medical notes on the boy's condition.

Humboldt Sask December 19 An extreme cold blaze destroyed the Mike Krewin farm home fourteen miles south of Humboldt leaving a family of six homeless. The father walked barefoot a mile to seek aid after both legs and one foot froze in the effort. The mother’s foot was badly frozen but the children were unharmed.
The French office denied intent to prosecute Vicente Bissco Ibanez, Spanish author, over a pamphlet against King Alfonso. A Paris newspaper had claimed a protest by the Spanish government prompted a prosecution under an old imperial law.
