City Council Adjourned Meeting Discusses Water Rates and Band Donation

Patriotic Bonspiel Opens With Night of Curled Action

A large crowd filled the Curling Rink for opening rounds of the Patriotic Bonspiel. Ice was in fine condition and players performed well though season’s first games. Results listed for several rinks with scores from single digits to mid teens and draws scheduled for 7 and 9 o clock tonight.

At a special meeting the School Board decided to arrange for free requisites beyond textbooks for pupils and to solicit tenders. Principal L I Williams resigns by year end. W R Baker to assume high school principal duties in 1917 at $2000 yearly. Secretary to advertise for an assistant teacher and an Elizabeth Street School Christmas event approved. An elderly woman identified as Mrs. Sarah Jackson, aged 89, sustained fatal burns in a house fire while alone at her residence. Authorities have begun an investigation into the blaze and its cause.
