City Streets Set for Fresh Leveling Next Spring

Medicine Hat will acquire from J. D. Adams & Co. a scarifier and grader for 2250 dollars to remove waves in streets and provide a level surface. Delivery is expected mid March, with operation starting after frost. Bow Island agent H. E. Beattie will install and train a operator.

Lehr Stands Trial for Horse Stealing in Manyberries Case

Lehr, wanted at Manyberries on horse stealing charges, was brought from Irvine to A P P headquarters and will be sent to Manyberries for trial. The warrant was issued last April after horse thefts in Ranchville. Lehr fled the country but returned recently and was arrested south of Irvine by Constable H. Aker of the Irvine detachment. Ottawa, Dec. 18. Finance Minister W. S. Fielding showed continued improvement per doctors.

A. M. Birch, 45, hotel proprietor, was shot and killed as he tried to defend Hubert Jolnigan, a black porter, from a group of about fifteen men who appeared at the hotel intending to lynch him. Jolnigan is believed fatally wounded.

At a city council meeting George Preston outlined extensions to the plant elevators requiring city property in exchange for equal company property. Mayor Houckvale noted the exchange would trim a street gore while improving the street intersection. The council granted the property exchange and adopted a tax assessment recommendation reducing land values inside subdivisions and increasing building assessments, forecasting a net $22,000 reduction.

John Gallagher testified about notes found on Fuller's doorstep and his involvement with Fuller's finances.
