Burglars Loot Dawson's Cafe Through Back Window

Thieves entered Dawson's Cafe on Main St last night via a back window and damaged two cash registers and the safe, taking about 125 dollars in cash and cheques. A piece of furnace brass and handprints at the scene aided police, who traced a gray McLaughlin car seen near the elevated rear area around 1:00 AM. The discovery was made at 7:09 this morning by a cafe employee.

Seed and Grain Fair Planned for January at City Hall

The Medicine Mat Agricultural Society completed plans for a seed and grain fair to be held at the city hall in January. Prizes totaling 150 will be awarded. A spring stallion and bull show was set for the last week of March, and Charles Prince was named secretary for the calling year.

Mother of Graburn rancher passed away

Emily McDougall Reesor died at 62 South Drive Toronto on the sixth of the month at nearly ninety years old. Born January 1823 at Glen Grove near Toronto she belonged to United Empire Loyalist stock. Her father Daniel McDougall helped shape early Toronto politics and land history.

Norton horse dies on return from Hat at Norton hill

A saleable horse belonging to Mr. Sneider of Gros Ventre died after growing sick on the return from the Hat at Norton hill. Miss May Wright spent a week at Dauntless as guest of Mrs. Phelps, formerly of Brown priece. Rt C Porter shipped a car load of fat sheep last week. Ladies aid and Mr Bouch the school teacher are aiding children to ensure a successful Christmas tree concert on December 24. The Abbis boys have returned from Elkwater Lake where they stayed with Mr. William Smi.

City approves street widening and fire hall plans

The council passed a bylaw to widen streets near the fortier line and extend setback seven feet on main streets. Alderman Mc Clellan and Alderman Johnston led the measures. The fire committee urged paying J A Daley 1400 for plans and supervising fire hall construction. The Board of Health will host a lab at 409 Main Street near the city hall. Water rates to CPR were to be studied, delinquent bills addressed, and the meeting adjourned to Tuesday.

Fishermen enjoy open lake and fifty fish caught

For the past week anglers found portions of the lake open for fishing and netted about fifty fish. Many people joined in the sport.
