White House shot sparks security scare in Washington

A single gunshot struck the south side of the White House late at night but left no injuries. Park Police said the shot came from near the Ellipse at about 2 am and a search of the area followed. No suspects were named as streets were closed around the executive mansion.

Bosnian Serbs fire on peacekeepers near Visoko post

UN observers said seven artillery rounds landed around a new observation post near Visoko two kilometres from the Canadian camp. Lieut. Chris Henderson reported one round struck about three metres away. No injuries were reported. The fire came from Bosnian Serbs using a 76mm M48 mountain gun.
