The eighteenth Alberta legislature concluded after 34 days with 49 government and one private bill becoming law. The fall session approved The Temporary Anti-inflation Measures Act and The Temporary Rent Regulation Measures Act shaping wage and price controls for 18 months.
Ottawa reports rise in maximum unemployment insurance premiums to 3.30 weekly for employees and 4.62 weekly for employers effective Jan 1 1976. Insurable earnings set at 200 weekly with a 1.65 weekly rate per 100 earnings. Maximum benefit increases to 133 weekly. Parliament debates the changes amid opposition criticism over aged exclusions and reduced dependent benefits.

At a Paris energy conference Kissinger urged oil exporters to channel billions to needy Third World borrowers and backed lower oil prices to spur relief. He proposed IMF loans and a new facility to speed aid, while Giscard d Estaing called for global cooperation and justice in the world economy.
Canadian delegate Louis Duclos told the General Assembly Canada cannot support a general International Women's Year resolution due to certain elements including references to colonialism and Zionism. He said Canada fully backs women’s status provisions but will abstain on the resolution as a whole.
City council heard McElhanney Surveying propose converting a 14 suite Crescent Heights building, under construction, into a condominium. The plan assigns voting power by floor space, maintains shared facilities, and aims to curb rental turnover. Council will decide within three weeks.
Premier Rashid Karami alleged an Israeli invasion to rescue the Jews of Wadi Abu Jamil amid Lebanon’s civil war. Israel radio denied the claim as security forces held Beirut’s battle zone and a fragile ceasefire reduced open fighting.
