The Redcliff Lions Club sponsors an outdoor lighting contest with prizes presented at the Lions Christmas dance. Last year George Huckle and Pringle Senderson won ten dollar prizes. organizers expect keen competition and more entries this year.

Redcliff Pioneer Albert Oakland Dies in Flash Storm Crossing

Albert Oakland 91 a Glass Town pioneer died after a broadway crossing collision during a brief snow flurry. He was struck by a car driven by Joe Bergeron 75 and died at Medicine Nat General Hospital an hour later. An inquest opened and reconvenes Thursday with testimony from local officials and family.

Turkey raffle draws tonight at Eagle's hall

Ten turkeys will be raffled during the Senior Citizens whist party at Eagle's hall at 8:00 pm. Everyone is invited to attend and purchase raffle tickets for a chance at prizes, including the door turkey. The committee hopes for a large turnout for this first public venture.

Redcliff Athletic Association Sets Skating Fees and Draws

The Redcliff Memorial Athletic Association held its December meeting at Cameo Hall with President W. H. Turner. Members discussed ending monthly dividends, set skating fees, and planned an ice carnival to support the Lions civic centre project. Eight monthly draws and the Christmas draw produced winners, and the next meeting was set for January 12, 1954.

Four Redcliff boys from No 156 Redcliff Cadet Corps received awards from Captain Grant Congdon D.C. of C Company S A R. Sgt Jack Fairhurst earned his WO2 badge, Sgt Jerry McCleary won a medal for top shot among 15 in Southern Alberta and a best shot button, Lieut Clifford Dacre and Lieut Norman Bergeron earned Master Cadet awards. Capt Congdon inspected the corps before the ceremony and many citizens attended.

W L Atkinson elected grand chancellor of Rathbone Lodge No 5 Knights of Pythias Medicine Hat for 1954 succeeding Alex G McKenzie.
