Geneva reports the League of Nations unanimously votes to expel Russia over the invasion of Finland. A telegram notifying Moscow was sent by Secretary-General Avenol. Finland abstained along with China Yugoslavia and Greece in the council vote.

Control Board Formed for Bacon and Ham Supply

The Dominion plans to create a four member control board to manage an agreement with the British government to supply at least 4,480,000 pounds of bacon and ham weekly. A fire at a cellulose plant under military control in Zarnesti killed eighty people and left about two hundred gravely injured. An overheated 1000 gallon chemical kettle ruptured as high winds spread flames and chlorine fumes over the village.

Delightful Red Cross Benefit Play at Empress Theatre

The Little Theatre Association and Melody Maids staged five one act comedies at the Empress theatre for Medicine Hat Red Cross Society. Director Kitty White and Mary Laws led the casts with audience laughter and applause. J E Davies thanked all groups and outlined the society’s fundraising campaign objectives.
