The Gleichen constituency held its annual conference in Strathmore last month with Mrs. Lynch Staunton presiding in Mrs. Hall's absence. Officers were elected including Merc Fulton Langdon as Convener and Mrs. Moe Langdon as Secretary Treasurer. Fire destroys large portion of Chenichen business district
At 10:45 this morning a gasoline stove started a blaze in the dining room of the Chenichen Hotel. A west wind drove the flames through the town's business area, destroying the hotel, Royal Bank, Bank of Commerce, building, pool hall, tobacco and hardware and drug stores. Calgary firemen arrived by special train at 1:45 PM and helped control the fire, which was under central control by about 2:30 PM. Several wooden structures burned with contents lost. only some stock was removed to safety.
