Cuts to final budget draft shrink city capital plan
The city council will debate a revised 2025-26 budget with numerous reductions including deferral of the comfort cabins or yurts at city campgrounds and several million from low-cost investment programs. A 5.6 percent levy over two years funds some increases as provincial revenue declines. A $5 million northeast sewer project and 200 amp service upgrades face shelving or pause, totaling about $220 million for two years with $193 million for infrastructure and utility work.
