Nightmare crash kills two youths

LT. BLAISE Que CP reports a night crash that killed two youths and left children lying along the road bleeding and screaming for help as rescue teams arrived at the scene. The fatal incident prompted authorities to begin investigations into the cause of the crash and whether road conditions or driver error contributed to the tragedy.

Canadian Highway Tragedy Kills Two Students

The AMA reports the Trans Canada Highway was in good condition at 9 a.m. with slipping sections near Swift Current and light snow toward Brooks. A crash involving two school buses and a loaded gravel truck left two Lacolle youths dead, 47 injured, eight in critical condition. Police described rescue efforts and identified the dead as Claude Parent and Raymond Hebert, both 16 and 17. Bus drivers Guy Girard Emile Hamel and truck driver Gilles Tetreault were among the critically injured. One driver reportedly lost a leg.
