Montreal students overturn Red Ensign at Place Ville Marie

More than 700 University of Montreal students seized the plaza of the 41 storey Place Ville Marie, tore down the Red Ensign, and burned a Donald Gordon effigy. Alberta ARDA progress described as not fast

Gordon Sterling, chairman of Alberta's ARDA advisory committee, said progress on ARDA projects has not been fast. Speaking in Medicine Hat at the Short Grass ARDA advisory committee launch, he cited delays due to pre project work and pending master and secondary agreements with the dominion. He noted no projects could proceed until signed, though some proposals, including one from Brooks, have been submitted.

Permanent ARDA committee formed in Medicine Hat meeting

Bert Hargrave of Walsh named chairman of a provisional ARDA group called the Short Grass ARDA Committee. David Broadfoot Redcliff Orville Reber and Walter Strom Burdett and Brian Sommerville Medicine Hat were appointed with about 20 organizations to appoint more. The panel aims to prepare for a permanent ARDA committee to promote land use and water conservation projects under the Agricultural Rehabilitation and Development Act. The area covers Improvement Districts 11 and 22 Forty Mile County Redcliff Bow Island Foremost Medicine Hat and nearby villages. First meeting is set for December 21 with up to one year to draft terms and a constitution. A bid to keep cities and towns out was rejected. The Medicine Hat Chamber of Commerce sponsored the session which drew about 160 attendees.

Veinerville Gains Water Supply After Drilling

Veinerville now has its own water system after drilling reached 260 feet. For 19 homes, trucked water ends as Weil water streams from a one inch pipe with a long hose to fill cisterns.
