Ottawa sources report the anti inflation board rejected a 38 percent, 22 000 member wage settlement for Canada Post inside workers and letter carriers, deeming it too high. Cabinet may weigh curbs as spending plans for the new fiscal year move forward and ministers defend the ruling’s alignment with wage guidelines.
MPs rallied against a proposal to cut the Canadian citizenship residency from five to three years arguing it would cheapen citizenship. They backed extending equal rights for 18 year olds and allowing children born abroad to adopt a parent’s nationality, with debates over good character requirements and retroactivity in cases of stateless children.
