Two Men Die As Auto Veers Into Ravine Near Abbotsford

An Indian chief Sam Paul aged 55 and Dennis Hunter 35 died when their car left a detour and plunged into a ravine near Abbotsford B C. Both wives were seriously injured and taken to hospital with multiple injuries and shock. The four were ejected as a bridge repair detour contributed to the accident. One woman crawled to a house for help.

Farmers Push Extension of Crop Insurance and Policy Reform

The Farmers Union of Alberta passes a motion to extend the Prairie Farm Assistance Act into a full crop insurance plan with larger benefits and broader coverage, to be funded partly by provincial governments. The convention also urges a parity price system for all human food grains, Wheat Board handling of feed grains, and quota principles aligned with basic unit quotas, while rejecting carryover quotas and opposing coarse grain handling concerns.

Blaze levels cafe north Battleford Saskatchewan cafe fire

A seven thousand five hundred dollar blaze Monday night destroyed a cafe and damaged a hotel at Love long, sixty miles northwest of here. No one was injured. The cafe was owned by H. Govan formerly of Edmonton.
