Quiet Nominations Elect Councillors and Trustees

Nominations on Monday elected J. K. Drinnan Hy. Stewart and Thos. Penhale as Councillors and John Kennedy and W. G. Niblock as School Trustees by acclamation. Mayor race left unsettled with a later vote on Monday the 14th after W. Cousins contested the mayoral nomination.

Community fraternal orders elect officers for 1904

Fire Brigade selects president W T Finlay and secretary Geo A Cochrin with chief to be chosen later. Maple Leaf Lodge No 56 names W M F W Martin as master and T W McMullen as senior warden. Charity Lodge 304 appoints T Bell as master and E H Turner as vice master. Mountain Division O R C No 255 elects Becker as C G R C and Millican as S C with Blatchford as treasurer and Sprague as G S.

Hockey prospects and new local league forms

Hockey outlook for the season is bright with several teams planned including senior and junior squads, Cosmopolitan, Fire Brigade, Clerks, and Marshall & Hunter’s. Vire Brigade club formed last Thursday with Mayor Hawthorne as honorary president and S Taylor as captain. colors are red white and blue.

Huckvales Leave for Los Angeles and Town Banquet

Mr. and Mrs. W. Huckvale depart for Los Angeles for the winter. A banquet at Victoria Restaurant honored Mr. Huckvale with a pipes case. Medicine Hat Curlers Plan Bonspiel Arrangements

Curling club members met at their rink to set up committees for the annual bonspiel on the 14th and 15th of next month. A. DesBrisay and J. Benson led the planning with subcommittees named for finance, programmes, prizes, and trophies. A special committee will negotiate CPR rate reductions for out of town curlers.

Young Liberal Club plans Pedro and Whist tournament

The Young Men’s Liberal Club held its second meeting in the club rooms on Monday evening with large attendance. President I. G. White presided as plans were made for future events including a Pedro and whist tournament with prizes. Monthly debates on current political topics will also occur, and songs and dancing were featured after business. The club reports flourishing membership.
