Edmonton Cypress Hills forum shifts format draws mixed reception

A public hearing on Cypress Hills Provincial Park in Edmonton drew about 100 people after a surprise format change. The National and Provincial Parks Association of Canada ran the meeting, with 14 briefs from Medicine Hat, Cypress Hills, and Calgary and Edmonton snowmobile groups, then opened the floor to Edmonton residents who chose to comment rather than present new material.

Cow-calf program changes announced for Alberta

Agriculture Minister Marvin Moore outlined revisions to the cow-calf support program. Eligibility now includes those without a herd on Sept 1 1976 and those with high 1975 taxable income. Taxable income is defined by 1976 year end or averaging two years before Sept 1 1976. Eligibility may also apply if cows were destroyed by fire or disease or if health prevented herd maintenance.

Quebec sees Ottawa clash in federalprovincial finance talks

At the Ottawa conference Quebec Finance Minister Jacques Parizeau called the federalprovincial meeting a failure with a difference and warned of political consequences as Ottawa refused to fund revenue guarantees and resisted a Bank Act overhaul. Lougheed Seeks Tariff Talks With United States
