Bank Robbers Will Be Tried in the Spring

Alex McLaughlin and James Wilson appeared before His Honor Judge Green at the District Court. They elected to be tried before a judge and jury at the Supreme Criminal Court to be held in March 1917. Mr McLarty appeared for the crown.

Liberal Donation From Flowery Plains

A generous contribution to the Patriotic fund arrives from Flowery Plains through Secretary H. C. Boggan. The Municipal Council lists a cheque for 2650 dollars to the Patriotic fund and a separate 260 dollar cheque to the Red Cross society.

Bank Robbers Go On Trial For Manyberries Bank Heist

The preliminary hearing for J. Wilson and Alexander McLaughlin on charges of robbing the Bank of Commerce at Manyberries on December 2 was held. Tellers and managers testified how the pair bound and gagged them and took cash, with Burr aiding in the escape and a chase ending at a garage where the prisoners were captured. Witnesses described the town- to- town flight from Medicine Hat and the eventual arrest.
