Thatcher on the move

Saskatoon CP reports convicted murderer Colin Thatcher was to be moved to a federal prison today. Corrections Canada declined to reveal the transfer site, citing privacy and security rules. Thatcher, a former Saskatchewan energy minister, is appealing his first degree murder conviction from 1983 and has been held at Saskatoon Correctional Centre.

Hijackers kill hostages as Kuwait Airways jet stays in Tehran

After a hijacking diverted to Tehran, at least three passengers including a Kuwaiti and an American diplomat were killed. Four hostages were reported slain since Tuesday with 145 passengers and 11 crew aboard. 20 hostages were released in the evening.
