Winnie Judd Escapes from Arizona Jail

Winnie Ruth Judd, known as the Blond Tigress, escaped from the Arizona state prison for the second time in a month. Governor Bob Jones said no details were available. Hospital officials hoped she would be recaptured soon after a prior escape on Oct. 24 from the state hospital for the insane.

Britain Agrees to Buy Canadian Bacon for War Effort

Ottawa reports Canada will supply Britain with 4.48 million pounds of bacon weekly under wartime terms. Wiltshire sides priced at 20.18 dollars per hundredweight, Canada to supply, Britain to pay freight and insurance. The deal includes up to 5.6 million pounds weekly and a Canadian Bacon Board to handle purchases.

Princess Louise Dies at 91 Duchess of Argyll Passes Away in London

Princess Louise Duchess of Argyll died Sunday at Kensington Palace aged 91 widow of the former Governor General of Canada. She was Victoria’s great aunt and the oldest survivor of Queen Victoria’s family. Born March 21 1848 in Buckingham Palace she married the Marquess of Lorne in 1871 and lived much of her life in Britain with strong ties to Canada and Alberta named for one of her Christian names.
