Fred Walker a 19 year old farm laborer escaped serious injury when his 1954 model car collided with the No 901 westbound trans continental freight train at the Redcliff main crossing at 12 20 am. He suffered only a nose bleed and the car was wrecked. Police Chief Joe Cartmell called the escape fortunate and noted brake application preceded the skid into the train’s side.
